Retouching Photos

For this study we were asked to find old photographs of family members and to retouch them. In the first part of the study we had to find an old badly damaged photograph. When then used techniques to restore the photograph. The photograph I chose was one of my Grandfather on my mom's side from an old WWII photograph. He fought in the army as a tank driver. The photograph was damaged over the years but the restoration came out very well.

Original

This is the original photograph before restoration.

Restoration

Photograph after restoration, as you can see there is a major difference between the two.

For the second part of this study we were asked ot create a composition that "transcended space and time." This particular part of the study was particularly hard. Not many pictures exist of my parents family, and the ones my parents were able to find were hard to manipulate. In the end I had to photoshop both pictures to make them compatible with one another and after that create the composition.
