According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the average American consumer is exposed to more than 600 advertisements each day. These ads come in a variety of forms, from television, to radio, to print. People have even started to receive advertisements on their cell phones. I can not even escape advertising on my walk to class. Flyers, whether they are advertising products, or promoting college clubs, are laden throughout campus.
After absorbing my fill of these ambient ads, I felt a desire to change the environment around me. I wanted something to exist in my daily life that would draw my attention, and bring out my appreciations for nature and art. I decided to take my two favorite short studies, HDR photography and panoramas, and fuse them together. After one failure due to some unbalanced shooting, I hit the mark, and succeeded in stitching a thirteen picture panorama of Bontecou Craig. The HDR software allowed me to create my vision, which turned my panorama into a beautiful landscape from another world.
The 8x82in final print will be displayed on the back wall of the JEC staircase outside the DCC.
