Kathy High received confirmation on April 13, 2010 that she has been named a Fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

The award is in Fine Arts and starts July 2010. The name of her project is called "The Vampire Study Group" (VSG). "The Vampire Study Group" is an interdisciplinary, conceptual art project that takes form in sculptures, films, performances and writings. All the art works are research-based speculative fictions dealing with themes of life, death, specifically looking at the biological manipulation of life, and themes of the 'vampire,' the undead or neo-dead, and the desire for immortality within bio-medical research. The Guggenheim Fellowship is for support towards the continuation of "Vampire Study Group" projects started in 2009 and onward.

High proposes to return to continue research started with SymbioticA- Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, in the School of Anatomy and Human Biology, at the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia. "SymbioticA is an artistic laboratory dedicated to the research, learning, critique and hands-on engagement with the life sciences." http://www.symbiotica.uwa.edu.au/
