The AVA Project is an on-going series of transmedia performances and installations exploring the delicate relationship between human nature and technology will be presented at the International Festival of Electronic Language: File 2002 Symposium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 20, 2002 at 8PM. The AVA Project brings together a unique collaboration of six artists: Kathleen Ruiz - animation/project designer, Elise Kermani - sound composition/interactive design, Barbara Kilpatrick - set design/set objects, Lisa Naugle - motion capture choreography/live choreography, Sarah Plant - composer acoustic instrument segments), and Vicky Shick - live choreography. Documentary filmmaker Irene Lusztig, Associate Professor of Film and Digital Media at UC Santa Cruz, will present her recent film Yours in Sisterhood (2018), which uses as source material the archives of Ms. Magazine. Lusztig uses letters to the editor, filming them read by people living in towns and cities across the country where the letters originated.
