Arts PhD Students Premiere Interactive Performances at EMPAC April 27

Date posted: 2017-04-26 14:43:06

Arts Ph.D. students Jeremy Stewart and K. Michael Fox will premiere two new interactive performances this Thursday, April 27, in EMPAC Studio 2, starting at 6:00 pm.

Jeremy Stewart  -  PL:2

PL:2 is an audience-influenced movement performance. Through interaction with a mobile-based web application, audience members create tactile and auditory events and cues, directing the performance and generating sound. Audience members are encouraged to bring smart phones and tablets to participate in this performance.

K. Michael Fox - YYYY

YYYY is a musical performance that explores the digital music system through a process similar to “live coding”, the practice of writing software while it runs. Through networked mobile interfaces the audience instigates processes that fundamentally transform the system’s code DNA, resulting in a distributed and networked reprogramming of the system logic and sonic output.

The event is free and open to the public.
