Ade Knowles with the Electric City Afro-Cuban Quartet

On August 27, 2014, Ade Knowles, Professor of Practice in the Arts, is scheduled to perform with the Electric City Afro-Cuban Quartet at Johnny’s Italian Restaurant in Schenectady, New York.  This All-Star group is led by reed master Jeff Nania, Co-Founder of the Chronicles, the Capital Region’s award winning Funk, Jazz, Soul, and Hip-Hop band. Also on board are David Gleason, the well known pianist and composer with Sensemaya, the Latin Jazz and Funky Salsa Band; and Kristin Diotte, seasoned percussionist with Ensemble Congeros. Documentary filmmaker Irene Lusztig, Associate Professor of Film and Digital Media at UC Santa Cruz, will present her recent film Yours in Sisterhood (2018), which uses as source material the archives of Ms. Magazine. Lusztig uses letters to the editor, filming them read by people living in towns and cities across the country where the letters originated.
