Liz Tonne is a sound artist inspired by the unorthodox use of the human voice. She is an improviser and an interpreter of contemporary composition using voice as a sound source; an instrument. Her palette is an abstraction of singing styles ranging from jazz to bird songs, classical technique to the casual sounds of machinery. She combines air, breath, whispers, overtones and disconnected text to evoke present and unconscious associations; memories found only in the power of the human voice.

She began improvising while singing in the 1990's art-rock ensemble Mile Wide and continued to develop stylistically as a member of Jonathan LaMaster's Saturnalia and as the lead singer for the country tribute group Ville. For many years she sang professionally for all-occasion entertainment bands such as Horns in the House, Party Train and The Vince Damiano Quartet. She has sung repertoire from the American Songbook in restaurants, cocktail lounges, town bandstands and racetracks throughout New England.

She is a member of The BSC, a large ensemble of the Boston area's finest electroacoustic musicians led by Bhob Rainey. She is also a member of undr quartet, one of the pioneering ensembles of Boston's lowercase sound, formed with James Coleman, Greg Kelley and Vic Rawlings in 1998.

Austin-based improvising percussionist Chris Cogburn is an active composer, performer, educator and organizer within an expansive global community of creative artists.  Approaching the physical nature of his chosen instrument with an interest and attention to the drum's subtle and overlooked timbres and textures, Cogburn's music gives rise to unexpected sound worlds suffused with meanings and forms, acute yet infinite.  Moving across, atop, below and around a single drum with a variety of percussive objects and implements, Cogburn's fluid physicality provides a rich dynamic to an expanding complexity of sound.

Primarily working in the field of Creative Improvised Music, Cogburn has collaborated with many of the premiere international artists in contemporary music, including: John Butcher, Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster, Dave Dove, Joelle Leandre, Jaap Blonk, Sean Meehan, Joe McPhee and avant-rock outsider Jandek.  Other projects include work with the trio Perruque (with Ringling Brothers clown Aaron Tucker and Toronto guitarist Kurt Newman); and frequent duo collaborations with Vancouver percussionist Jeffrey Allport, avant-vocalist Liz Tonne and Seattle-based pianist Gust Burns.
