The Sanctuary for Independent Media
In a gesture of sonic peace around the world, the Deep Listening Institute with funding from the New York State Music Fund and NYSCA presents the Deep Listening Convergence from January 15-June 10, 2007. This unique project was conceived as an opportunity to bring together 45 international artists, from the Deep Listening label, Deep Listening certificate program and other friendly collaborators across the globe, to use state-of-the-art Web 2.0 technology. These artists are collaborating in an unprecedented online residency jamming over Skype, holding message forums on Basecamp, forming new, diverse ensembles and posting recorded sessions on Imeem.
Participating artists include Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster, Monique Buzzarté, Scot Gresham-Lancaster, Ione, Vonn New, Phala Tracy, Susie Ibarra, Anne Bourne, Al Margolis, Scott Smallwood, Roberto Rodriquez, Gayle Young and many other artists of note. As part of the world-wide community of experimental and improvisational artists, these 45 artists are developing new scores as a gesture of peace to be broadcast online and with three concerts in upstate New York.
