New Music by Michael Century

Michael Century will present an evening of his own compositions, in two parts.  Part One is the debut of the Michael Century Trio, with Mark Foster on drums and Kevin Barcomb on saxophones.  Part Two is the World Premiere of Century's "Triple Duo," a three movement piece for accordion, electronics, and Yamaha Disklavier.

Oron Catts to present workshop "Growing meat and synthetic biology"

Oron Catts has grown both meat and leather using tissue engineering and was the first person to grow and eat a piece of in-vitro meat. Catts will lead this workshop which will cover some of the main techniques of regenerative biology that are used for in vitro meat and will explore the broader cultural and artistic implication of using living tissue within a non-medical context.

Algorithmic Menagerie is a continuation of the MFA thesis work of Raven Kwok's (Ruiwen Guo) long-term research exploring artificial life and self-organization in the field of computer-based generative art. Programmed in Processing, Algorithmic Menagerie is an interactive virtual environment inhabited by algorithmic creatures.

"Brothers of the Black List" with Sean Gallagher

Brothers of the Black List tells the story behind the longest litigated civil rights case in U.S. history. It all began in September 1992, when an elderly women in Oneonta, NY reported that she had been attacked in an attempted rape by a young black male who cut his hand during the altercation. This led to a college administrator at nearby SUNY Oneonta giving police a list of the names and residences of all 125 black males in town, questioning them and demending to see their hands.
