integrating reaktor into protools 1) open a new protools session 2) create 3 new tracks - first track should be a midi track - second, a stereo "aux input track" - third, a stereo audio track 3) set up the midi track - select "all" as the midi source - put the MIDI track in record mode and you should see levels coming in when you play the x-5 keyboard indicating that it is receiving MIDI data. 4) set up the aux track - show the mix window. at the top of the window, set up a plug-in for "reaktor session" by clicking the little arrows and selecting "plug in -> reaktor session" from the list. You could make this assignment from the "inserts" view for the track in the edit window, its just easy to find from the mix window. - click on the reaktor session plug in and open a synth in reaktor session - Now, send MIDI output from the 1st track to reaktor: Set the destination of midi (the output of the MIDI track in the I/O view ) to "reaktor session channel 1". note - this option is only available after you load the reaktor plug-in. - the output of the aux strip defaults to "analog 1-2," the mbox. if the MIDI track is in record mode, you should be able to hear the synth now. - to record the output of the synth, we need to "bus" it to the audio track. Set the output of the aux track to "bus 1-2" 5) set up the audio track - set the input of the audio track to "bus 1-2" 6) if the MIDI track and Audio track are both in record mode you should be able to hear your sounds and record them. additional sets of three tracks can be set up and recorded - make sure that the MIDI output is "talking to the correct version of reaktor, you will notice multiple MIDI output options as you load additional "instances" of reaktor.
